Referral program: bring a client, save on your plan
How VanaGreen's referral program works, and why recommending it to another operator you trust is worth a subscription discount.
The WEEE recycling and waste management market is small, and people know each other — suppliers, collectors, and transporters keep running into the same partners, the same ANPM (National Environmental Protection Agency) inspections, the same industry trade shows. When an operator already using VanaGreen tells another operator in the field about it, that recommendation carries far more weight than any marketing campaign I could run myself. That premise is what the referral program built directly into the app is based on.
How it works, in practice
Every tenant in VanaGreen gets a unique referral code, visible in Settings, with a quick-copy button. The code gets passed along to someone interested — a collaborator, a partner, an industry contact complaining about spreadsheets or outdated software.
When that person becomes a client, the referral is marked as a prospect, and once it converts, you get a discount on your subscription. It's not open-ended — it's capped at 3 months, cumulative per referrer. That's a deliberate choice: the reward is real and noticeable, but it doesn't open a permanent hole in the pricing structure, either for me or for the product's long-term sustainability.
Everything related to referrals — code, prospect status, active discounts — is visible directly from the "Refer a client" card in Settings, no separate spreadsheet or email request needed.
Why it matters, beyond the discount
A referral isn't just a financial benefit — it's also a signal. If you recommend VanaGreen to another recycling operator, you're doing it because you trust the platform will work just as well for their process, not only for yours. And for me, a client who arrives through a referral from an existing operator is almost always a better fit than one from a generic channel — they already know, from a trusted source, what the product actually does, not just what the pricing page says.
That's also why the program isn't aggressive — there are no pushy notifications, no "invite 5 friends" pressure. It's there, available, for the moment when the conversation comes up naturally — you're talking with someone in the industry about how you manage your documents and workflows, and it makes sense to mention what you use.
Why I built it this way, not as a separate "affiliate" module
I had a choice between a classic affiliate program, with tiers, thresholds, and a separate tracking dashboard, and the simpler version I ended up shipping. I went with simplicity for two reasons. First: VanaGreen isn't a product with high monthly conversion volume — it's a consultative sale, with a cycle of a few weeks, discussed directly with me. A complex affiliate system would have been over-engineering for the current commercial reality. Second: referrals between recycling operators work because they come from a real relationship, not because someone was artificially nudged with an aggressive incentive — which is why the code sits quietly in Settings, not in a permanent dashboard banner.
The module is built to grow along with the product — if referral volume ever justifies tiers or additional bonuses, the base structure (per-tenant code, prospect tracking, capped conversion) stays the same; only the rules layered on top would need to expand.
Who this is for
If you're already a VanaGreen client and you know someone in WEEE recycling, waste collection, or similar operations who's dealing with the same problems you used to have — parallel spreadsheets, manual reconciliations, ANPM reports done by hand — a referral is a simple way to save them time, and to cut your own bill for a few months. The code is already there, in Settings, ready to copy.
