1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files your browser keeps on your device. We treat the other places a site can write to (localStorage, sessionStorage) the same way: everything below lives on your device.
We do not use Google Analytics, ad pixels (Meta, LinkedIn) or browser error reporting. Until you choose something in the cookie panel, the site writes nothing on your device.
2. Categories
- Necessary: what the site needs to do what you asked (remember your choice, the theme, send the contact form). No consent needed.
- Statistics (optional): PostHog, hosted in the EU, through a proxy on our domain (/ingest). No automatic capture of page text and no session recording. Only after Accept.
3. The complete list
| Name | Type | Category | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| vanadium-consent-v1 | localStorage | Necessary | until you clear it | Your choice in the cookie panel. Written only after you press Reject, Accept or Save. |
| vanadium-ui-theme | localStorage | Necessary | until you clear it | The theme (light, dark, system). Written only if you change it from the menu. |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | challenges.cloudflare.com frame | Necessary | while the page is open | Spam check on the contact form. Loaded only on the contact page. |
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | script, no storage | No consent needed | writes nothing | Pages visited and how fast they load, without identifiers. It writes nothing on your device, so it runs without consent. |
| ph_<key>_posthog | cookie, .vanadium.systems | Statistics | 1 year | Pseudonymous PostHog identifier, so two visits by the same person are not counted as two people. |
| ph_<key>_posthog | localStorage | Statistics | until you clear it | The same value, also kept by PostHog in the browser. |
| ph_<key>_* (a few keys) | sessionStorage | Statistics | while the tab is open | PostHog session state (current window, session properties). |
| /api/vitals | request to this site, no storage | Statistics | writes nothing | Page speed (Web Vitals) and the page path, without identifiers. |
4. How to choose
- The panel on your first visit: Reject or Accept, with the same weight. “details” shows the categories one by one.
- The “Cookie settings” link in the footer reopens the panel at any time. Withdrawing consent stops PostHog right away.
- Your browser settings: you can clear or block anything above. Without the necessary ones, the site will ask for your choice again.
5. Changes
When the categories or tools change, we update the list above and the panel asks you again.
